The University of Silesia in Katowice is one of Poland’s largest and most dynamic public universities. Founded in 1968, it has established itself as a key academic and research hub, offering innovative programs tailored to evolving labour market needs. With outstanding research teams, modern laboratories, and strong international collaborations, the university actively participates in Horizon, Erasmus+, Creative Europe, Interreg, and other EU-funded projects. Currently, it is involved in 318 projects, working with domestic and international institutions, including business organizations. A significant focus of its research is on innovation and practical applications for economic development, reinforcing its role as a major player in global academia.

With 19,500 students and 1,800 researchers and faculty members, the university offers 89 study programs and 185 specializations, ensuring students acquire practical skills and academic excellence. The University of Silesia also offers numerous doctoral degree programs (26 disciplines) which allow students to deepen their knowledge of various disciplines and provide them with opportunities to conduct interesting and innovative research projects. The university is deeply committed to internationalization, reflected in its 3500+ agreements with global academic and business partners and its involvement in over 369 ongoing research, educational, and R&D projects. In the ISABEL project, the University of Silesia leads the survey questionnaire design and the ISABEL results report on Job Creation and Destruction (JCD) and skills shortages, ensuring a research-driven approach to understanding labour market transitions.
