IER

IER

The Institute for Employment Research (IER), based at the University of Warwick in the UK, conducts interdisciplinary, high-quality research that informs policymakers and practitioners. Funded by public and private sector organisations, its work spans labour market intelligence, education and skills, the future of work, social inclusion, career development, job quality, employment practices, and regional analysis. IER researchers come from diverse backgrounds, collaborating across disciplines to produce theoretical, methodological, and empirical studies. While academic publishing is a core focus, IER emphasises real-world impact, ensuring its findings are accessible and actionable for those shaping employment policies and practices.

As part of the ISABEL project, IER is responsible for gathering and integrating non-traditional data sources, including web-scraped patent data and textual information, to provide insights into green transformations in the labour market. The team ensures data consistency across countries, economic sectors, and occupations, facilitating robust analysis. IER applies cutting-edge econometric and machine learning techniques for time-series modelling and forecasting, offering accurate predictions to support policy formulation. The institute also contributes to the development of data crawlers, detailed reports, and interactive outputs, ensuring that findings are accessible to stakeholders and decision-makers.
