ISABEL at the RSAI Global Conference 2026

August 12, 2026

The ISABEL Horizon Europe Project was represented by UOWM at the Global Conference of the Regional Science Association International (RSAI), held in Quito, Ecuador.

During the conference, Maria Adamakou presented work from the project under the title “Regional Labour Market Transitions in the Green and Digital Era: Evidence, Policy Lessons and Territorial Risks.”

The presentation focused on how the green and digital transitions are transforming regional labour markets, highlighting differences in how these changes affect territories, sectors and workers. Particular attention was given to the emerging risks and opportunities associated with technological change, decarbonisation and shifts in labour demand, as well as to the importance of understanding these dynamics from a regional perspective.

The presentation also addressed the policy implications of these transformations, including the need for targeted measures that can support regions in adapting to structural change, reduce territorial inequalities and strengthen labour market resilience. These issues are central to ISABEL’s research on the evolving geography of employment and the development of evidence-based approaches to support fair and inclusive transitions.

The RSAI Global Conference provided an international forum for exchanging research findings and policy perspectives on regional development, territorial change and the future of labour markets.
