ISABEL at the RSA Annual Conference 2026

The ISABEL Horizon Europe Project participated in the Regional Studies Association (RSA) Annual Conference 2026 in Gothenburg, Sweden, with two presentations in a special session co-organised by ISABEL together with the SkillResilience4EU, RENOVATE and GSW projects.

Dr. Nicholas Vretos, ISABEL Project Coordinator, presented the ISABEL platform and its interdisciplinary approach, bringing together economic geography and information technology. The presentation focused on how AI-powered economic intelligence can strengthen labour market analysis and support evidence-based policymaking, providing insights into the challenges and opportunities emerging from the green and digital transitions across regions and industries.

Dr. Nikos Kapitsinis, ISABEL Scientific Coordinator, presented the project’s initial research findings at Month 18, following the collection of secondary and primary data. The analysis examined job creation and destruction across Danish regions from 2011 to 2023, considering differences by industry, occupation, educational level, sex and migration status. The findings provided initial evidence on patterns associated with the green and digital transitions and their implications for regional labour market transformation.

The conference also provided an opportunity to exchange ideas with researchers, policymakers and experts working on regional development, labour markets and innovation.
