Isabel @ ERSA conference in Athens, August 2025

On 27th August 2025, Dr. Nikos Kapitsinis, ISABEL’s scientific manager, represented the project at the European Regional Science Association (ERSA) Conference, sharing the project’s conceptual framework with an international audience of regional scientists, policymakers, and practitioners.

During his presentation, Nikos provided an in-depth look at regional labour market transformations in the context of Europe’s twin green and digital transitions. He discussed key aspects highlighting the room for improvement in the conceptualization and study of job creation and destruction, its geographical implications, and how evidence-based insights can guide fair and inclusive policies for labour market adaptation.

The presentation highlighted ISABEL’s commitment to combining robust research, data-driven methodologies, and AI-powered tools to support policymakers and career professionals. By connecting regional labour market intelligence with actionable strategies, ISABEL aims to ensure that structural transformations in the economy strengthen socially and geographically equity.Participation in ERSA also offered a valuable opportunity to engage with other EU projects, such as ST4TE, SkillsPULSE and SkillResilience4EU, exchange knowledge, and explore collaborative approaches for studying and addressing labour market challenges across Europe.
